Happy 205!
Well today marks the 205th anniversary of the first great New Madrid earthquake. So far today the seismic activity at New Madrid seems slow but you never know what the next day will bring there. If you want to read historic accounts of the event go to the New Madrid Compendium. Read and enjoy!

Magnitude 2.9 Earthquake at Caruthersville, Missouri
This morning a little after 4:00 there was a magnitude 2.9 earthquake near Caruthersville, Missouri. We have had no reports of it here at CERI but there were some "Did You Feel It?" reports on the event page. Just another reminder that the New Madrid seismic zone is still active and likes to give us early morning surprises. For more information go to Missouri Earthquake
