A Few more Earthquakes

Over the last week New Madrid has been a bit more busy.  On the 6th and 7th of August there were a couple of earthquakes with the initial magnitudes being 2.3. These were later revised and had differing magnitudes . The first was 4 miles southwest of Caruthersville, Missouri with a magnitude of 2.3 and the second on August 7th was 4 miles northwest of Tiptonville, Tennessee with a magnitude of 2.5. On August 9th there was a magnitude 2.8,  5 miles west-northwest  of  East Prairie, Missouri. Thats not counting the magnitude 1.5 earthquake of August 7th that was 3 miles southwest of Caruthersville, Missouri.

As a note the magnitude 2.8 earthquake generated a few "did you feel it reports" in contrast to the July 4th earthquake.  This was probably due to the lack of fireworks in August to distract people from feeling the earthquake.

And finally not to be outdone by the New Madrid seismic zone there was an earthquake nearby in the Wasbash seismic zone in Southern Illinois 8 miles west-southwest of Albion, Illinois, with a magnitude of 2.4 on August 8th.
